The potter and the Clay

"The Potter Knows The Clay"
-Pastor Burrell-

The last few weeks have been pretty overwhelming to say the least.
Starting a new job, almost a month into the school year, and preparing for a big event in Indy to benefit the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation.
A year ago today I had a health scare that left me viewing life now a little differently.
I never realized how many things (such as speech or walking) I took for granted on a daily basics.
In the past year the Lord has allowed me to meet people I would've never met IF it wasn't for my health scare.
I often think about where I came from.

Fast forward to last night where I came home to a message from a Grandmother who's grandson was diagnosed with dystonia.
Her Grandson is three years old now.
The Mother was in tears last night telling the story about her son to me.
This is what she had to say:
"my name is Olivia Kimbrough. My sons name is Thomas. We call him Baby Thomas. Thomas was diagnosed with Microcephaly, Dystonia, and Dandy Walker Variant Syndrome at 4 months old. He is now 3 years old and currently had a change in his diagnosis. About 5 weeks ago they did blood work on him and just one week ago it came back abnormal. They said that Thomas does not have Dandy Walker Variant syndrome, but something called Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia which is the cause of him having Microcephaly and Dystonia. They said that it is a Cask Gene mutation which is also very rare. Thomas is currently receiving Therapy in school . Physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy."
Meet Baby Thomas:

His Mother and Grandmother asked me to share this story with all of you!
My heart always breaks when I hear of a child going through illnesses.
The older I get the more I am realizing that loved ones go through it just as much if not more some days.

Months ago Pastor Matt came to Muncie, IN to preach. For those of you that don't know who Pastor Matt Burrell is...
He's:
The guy with the colored bow ties, spiky hair, who loves Corn fields and Pizza King!
Just look for the bling bling!

Little did we know that week that he was coming in town to preach. Which happen to be the same week that I was scheduled to have a Spinal Tap.
In hopes to find answers.
That week was such a blessing to me!
I don't remember what Pastor Matt talked about every evening that week but I remember being so caught in the last night.
The Potter and then Clay
And how Jesus can take that clay and make beauty out of it. That no pottery is the same.
I'll never forget that night after church.
He said "Hey! I'll be praying for you. Let me know results, ok?"
Giving him a big hug.

Weeks later we came to learn that there was no answers in that spinal tap that was done.
I remember sitting at my desk during the kid's nap time almost in tears writing to tell Pastor Matt the results.
I made the comment to him "I just wish Jesus would come back!"
He was quick to reply. Full of grace and compassion.
He said "Please don't wish the Lord's return so you can get out of the body you are in. Instead embrace it. Use it for God's glory. And don't apologize."
He ended it with "I am praying for you daily and I am always here for you!"

As I got this message yesterday from the little boy's Grandmother and Mother I just set there thinking "Pastor Matt told me months ago to use dystonia to help others. This is what he was talking about."

Lesson of the week for me personally:

God places people in our lives just at the right time! I am so thankful for Pastor Matt's friendship. He has become one of my biggest role models. If I am anything like him one day then boy I will have accomplished a lot in life!

Please pray for the family that reached out yesterday! That through little Thomas's battle that the Lord will shine bright through him so others may see.

I am learning that dystonia isn't MY battle but the Lord's.

As I get ready to host an event...I am reminded why I am hosting that event<3
